As we cruise out of Frenchman's Bay and past Acadia National Park, your professional naturalist will interpret the interesting human and natural history we see. They'll provide fascinating information about the marine wildlife and oceanography of the Gulf of Maine.

Our destination is about 25 miles south of Mount Desert Island, where we sight most of our larger whales. In the short (approximately 1 hour) time it takes us to get there, keep your eyes open as we point out harbor seals, gray seals, pods of harbor porpoise and a variety of seabirds such as storm petrels, four types of shearwaters, nothern, gannets and, of course, North Atlantic puffins. These seabirds can only be seen offshore.

The whales we commonly encounter include finbacks, humpbacks, minkes and occasionally a rare North Atlantic Right Whale. We also have great luck finding pilot whales, pods of white sided dolphins, basking sharks and ocean sunfish. As we watch whales, our naturalist will describe their behavior, adaptations and conservation.
